Ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted an iPad. I must have been around 10 or 11 years old when my elder sister got one herself, and I was obsessed. It was my first time seeing a gadget with a big screen you could swipe around, play games on, watch YouTube and listen to music all day long. I used to keep asking her to let me use it, but ofcourse, being the elder sister that she was… she rarely gave it to me.😂
Time passed, I grew up, but one thing never changed – whenever someone asked me- “Whats one thing you really want to buy?” my answer was always the same – not shoes, not watches, not bags- just an iPad.
It’s not like my parents wouldn’t have bought it for me if I had asked. But I don’t know… I always felt awkward asking for something like that. They already did (and still do) so much for me, and since I was studying and wasn’t earning, it felt weird to say, “Hey, can I have an iPad just because I really want one?”
I remember, once I told Papa, “ dont get me a phone… just get me an iPad if i pass this exam”. And he asked me,” why do you want one? I’ll get it if you really have a use for it.” And I didn’t even know how to explain properly—like, the only reason I wanted one was to draw. Not for school, not for studying. Just… to draw. And maybe because I was younger, I couldn’t justify it well enough.
Cut to 2024.My other sister got engaged. And she-being the absolute best- gifted my an iPad. She said, “You’re my only younger sister, and I wanted to gift you something special.”
And honestly? The moment I held it, I felt like that little 10-year-old all over again. That same excitement. That same starry-eyed feeling. I can’t even put it into words. It wasn’t just about having a gadget. It was about that little girl who kept wishing for something quietly for years—and finally got it, when she least expected it🥹✨
So yeah, these days I’m up at 2am, drawing like a child on a sugar high—finally living the dream, no bedtime, no rules. 😌✨
